Businesses, government officials, and law enforcement representatives praised a festival price-cut initiative launched by the Chattogram district administration during Eid-ul-Azha.
The programme, led by Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mian, encouraged retailers to lower prices of essential goods instead of raising them during the holiday.
At a recognition ceremony at Chattogram Circuit House on Saturday, participants said the initiative helped ease consumers’ costs and highlighted cooperation between businesses and public agencies.
Several speakers suggested the model could be adopted in other parts of the country, while organisers said the campaign aimed to promote ethical business practices and social responsibility.
Chattogram Divisional Commissioner Dr Md Ziauddin attended the event as chief guest, while Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mian presided over the programme.
Commander of Rapid Action Battalion-7 Lt Col Md Hafizur Rahman, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Amirul Islam, and Police Superintendent Chaulau Marma attended the event among others.
