CHATTOGRAM, June 29: A two-week regional training course on industrial safety began at Chittagong Port on Monday to further strengthen the industrial safety system.
Chittagong Port and Global Ports Safety, funded by the European Union, jointly organized the training.
Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah, Member (Harbor and Marine) of the Chittagong Port Authority, and French Ambassador to Bangladesh SE Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet were present at the inaugural ceremony.
20 officials from Bangladesh, France, Thailand and Sri Lanka are participating in the training.
Commodore Ahmed Amin Abdullah said that such training will play an important role in improving the industrial safety system of seaports. Chittagong Port will continue such initiatives to increase safety and efficiency in the future.
French Ambassador to Bangladesh SE Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet said that this training program, organized with the support of the French government, will help increase the skills of participants in dealing with industrial risks and preventing accidents.
Led by industrial safety expert Olivier Salvi, the training will teach various techniques for dealing with risks associated with modern container terminals, liquid hydrocarbon depots, oil and gas operations and chemical storage systems.
In addition, training will be provided on major accident risk analysis, risk assessment and safe distance determination using the European Commission's ADAM software and Ineris's Primarisk platform. There will also be an opportunity to gain practical experience through visits to local oil terminals and depots.
