
Daily Observer Senior Reporter Muhammad Yeasin and Daily Bangladesh Pratidin Senior Reporter Arafat Munna have been elected president and general secretary, respectively, of the Law Reporters Forum for the 2026�"2027 term.
Somakal’s Abu Saleh Rony was elected vice-president of the organisation, a platform for journalists covering law, justice and human rights.
The other office-bearers are Tanvir Ahmed of Banglanews as joint secretary, Manjur Hossain of Channel 24 as treasurer, Ahmed Al Amin of Times of Bangladesh as organising secretary, Mahmudul Alam of Khaborer Kagoj as office secretary, Zahidul Bashar of Independent Television as publicity and publication secretary, and Jannatul Ferdousi Manu of Channel One and Asadur Rahman of Amader Shomoy as executive members.
Chief Election Commissioner and RTV Head of News Elias Hossain announced the results after voting at the South Hall of the Supreme Court Bar Association on Friday afternoon.
The two other members of the election commission�"ATN News Head of News Mashhudul Haque and senior journalist Sajedul Haque�"were present, while Banglanews Special Correspondent Elias Sarkar assisted as the commission’s secretary.
Earlier, the forum held its annual general meeting, attended by Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan as the chief guest and Attorney General Ruhul Quddus Kajal as the special guest.
BNP Legal Affairs Secretary Barrister Badruddoza Badal, Bangladesh Bar Council members Nasir Uddin Ahmed Asim, Mohammad Shishir Monir and Supreme Court Bar Association Secretary Mohammad Ali also addressed the event.
The annual general meeting was presided over by outgoing president Hasan Javed and moderated by outgoing secretary Moniruzzaman Mission.
Additional Attorney General Barrister Anik R. Haque, the forum’s founding convener Manoj Kanti Roy, founding member secretary Kazi Abdul Hannan, former presidents Swapan Das Gupta, Saleh Uddin, M. Badi-uz-Zaman, Ashutosh Sarkar, Sayeed Ahmed Khan, Wakil Ahmed Hiron, Shamima Akhter and Ashraf ul Alam, among others, were also present.
