A fire at a market in Old Dhaka’s Chawkbazar has been brought under control after around 90 minutes.

On Saturday, the Fire Service and Civil Defence received a report of the blaze around 1:45pm after it broke out on the third floor of Haji Abul Bashar Super Market, a multi-storey building near Chawk Moghaltuli.

Six firefighting units brought the fire under control around 3:15pm.

Fire Service media officer Anwarul Islam said two units initially responded to the emergency before four more units from Siddik Bazar Fire Station joined the operation. He said no casualties had been reported.

Fire officials have yet to determine the cause or assess the extent of the damage. =bdnews24
