Outsiders on IU campus raise safety concerns

Dear Sir,
The unrestricted entry of outsiders into the Islamic University (IU) campus has become a growing concern. Their increasing presence is disrupting the peaceful academic environment and raising serious security issues. While visitors are welcome, many outsiders engage in inappropriate behaviour in areas such as Shaheed Mir Mugdho Sarobar, the memorial and other quiet corners of the campus. There have also been reports of harassment of female students, vandalism of campus property, reckless motorcycle riding and intimidation of students.

The situation becomes particularly alarming on holidays, when the campus often turns into a crowded recreational spot. Weak security measures have made it easier for outsiders to enter freely. Several untoward incidents in recent years have further highlighted the need for stronger campus security.

To ensure a safe and conducive academic environment, the university administration should take immediate steps to regulate the entry of outsiders, repair damaged boundary walls and strengthen security arrangements across the campus.
