There is no legal obstacle preventing ousted former prime minister Sheikh Hasina from returning to Bangladesh, Barrister Rumeen Farhana, MP for Brahmanbaria-2, has said.
She made the remarks on Monday while speaking to journalists after attending a National Rural Development Day programme at the Sarail Upazila Parishad in Brahmanbaria.
Rumeen Farhana said that if Sheikh Hasina returns to the country, she should fol low the due legal process by surrendering before the court and applying for bail.
"She will surrender before the court upon her return and seek bail. She will follow the normal legal procedures laid down in the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC)," she said.
Commenting on the opposition's newly announced shadow cabinet, she said, "I welcome the Opposition's shadow cabinet."
The programme was chaired by Sarail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Saiful Islam and attended by local public representatives, government officials and journalists.
