
With the aim of bringing banking services to the doorsteps of farmers and increasing agricultural production, an 'Upazila-based Agricultural Credit Campaign, Discussion Meeting, and Open Loan Distribution Programme' has been held in Madhabpur, Habiganj recently.
The event was held under the guidance of Bangladesh Bank, Sylhet, with the participation of 15 scheduled banks operating in Madhabpur Upazila. Prime Bank PLC was the lead bank for the programme, says a press release.
The chief guest was Md Javed Ahmed, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank. The meeting was chaired by Md Mehedi Hasan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Madhabpur Upazila; Syed Sajjad Haider Chowdhury, Deputy Managing Director of Prime Bank PLC, attended as the special guest.
As part of the program, 50 farmers received agricultural loan cheques. The guests said that public loan distribution helps make the loan process more open, faster and easier for farmers. An awareness video on agricultural loans was also shown to farmers and local people.
The event was attended by the Upazila Agriculture Officer, Fisheries Officer and Livestock Officer of Madhabpur, Md Humayun Kabir, Regional Head of Prime Bank PLC Sylhet Region; Shahana Parveen, Head of Agro Business of Prime Bank PLC and branch managers and officials of the participating scheduled banks.
