I Do Politics for the People - Farhad Hossain Azad, State Minister
‘I do not do politics to receive or give applause. I do politics for the people. I do politics to stand by you in times of need and hardship.’ State Minister for Water Resources Farhad Hossain Azad said on Friday.
He added that he does not do politics for applause but to serve the people.
State Minister made the remarks after asking people to stop clapping during a relief distribution programme for families affected by a fire in Mallikadah Chowdhuripara under Sonahar Union of Debiganj upazila.
The state minister distributed cash assistance and corrugated iron sheets among 15 affected families.
He added, he represents people regardless of their political affiliation. Government assistance should not be distributed based on political identity.
He urged local public representatives and political leaders to avoid favoritism in distributing government assistance and ensure that support reaches those who are genuinely affected.
He also said that no earthen road in the area would remain within the next five years, as all would be upgraded in phases.
On river erosion, the state minister said the government would take all necessary steps to ensure that not even a small piece of land is lost to rivers.
Each of the 15 affected families received two bundles of corrugated iron sheets and Tk 6,000 in cash.
Debiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Indrajit Saha, local public representatives, political leaders and residents attended the programme.
