Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations scheduled for Saturday (today) under the Chattogram Education Board have been postponed again, along with Alim and HSC (Business Management and Technology) equivalent examinations under the Madrasah and Technical Education Boards due to adverse weather and flooding.
The decision was announced in a notice signed by Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee Chairman and Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Syed Akhtaruzzaman on Friday afternoon.
The postponement applies to HSC, Alim, HSC (BMT), HSC (Vocational) and Diploma in Commerce examinations across all five districts under the Chattogram Board: Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachhari.
The notice said the decision followed reports from deputy commissioners of the affected districts and a request from the Chattogram board's controller of examinations. Examinations in other boards, and in other districts under the Madrasah and Technical Education Boards, will proceed as scheduled. The revised examination schedule will be announced later.
Heavy rainfall began in Chattogram on July 5, with the region recording its highest rainfall in 43 years on July 7.
Since July 5, the area has received 1,169 millimetres of rainfall till Friday morning. The downpour has triggered widespread flooding and landslides, killing 29 people. The English Second Paper examination under the same board was earlier postponed on Wednesday for the same reason.
