Switzerland drew level against Argentina in the 67th minute, but their momentum was short-lived as they were reduced to 10 men just five minutes later.

Forward Breel Embolo was shown a second yellow card in the 72nd minute for simulation. Referee initially booked Argentina's Leandro Paredes for a foul on Embolo, but a VAR review showed there had been no contact. The decision was overturned, and Embolo received his second booking for diving before being sent off.

Earlier in the second half, Embolo had raced onto a through ball and squared it for Dan Ndoye, whose effort was brilliantly blocked by Lisandro Martínez. The move was later ruled offside.

Switzerland continued to threaten, with Ndoye forcing Emiliano Martínez into a fine save from a header before the Argentine goalkeeper also denied a powerful long-range effort.

Moments before Embolo's dismissal, Ndoye combined neatly with Ricardo Rodríguez and finished clinically from a tight angle to level the score, capping Switzerland's strong spell before the red card shifted the momentum.
