11 DU students get trust fund scholarships

Eleven meritorious students of the Dhaka University (DU) on Monday received trust fund scholarships in recognition of their academic excellence at two separate ceremonies held at the university.

DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr ABM Obaidul Islam handed over the scholarship cheques to the recipients at the Vice-Chancellor's Conference Room.

Of the recipients, five first-year undergraduate students of the Economics Department received the Dhaka University Economics 1976 Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship. They are Afrina Islam Anika, Samiha Sara, Junaid Hossain Adnan, Tahsin Fuad Tuha and Sudar Chakma.

The Political Science Satirtha Forum Trust Fund Scholarship was awarded to six first-year undergraduate students of the Political Science Department�"Sadia Khatun, Md Zillur Rahman, Md Abir Hossain, Tarikul Islam, Ritu Rani Saha and Farhana Parvin. Congratulating the awardees, the vice-chancellor said achieving the university's academic goals would not be possible through government funding alone. He emphasised the need for greater support from alumni and other sections of society and urged former students of Dhaka University to contribute to the advancement of education and research.
