A fire that broke out at Ananta Apparels Ltd., a garment factory inside Adamjee Export Processing Zone (EPZ) in Narayanganj's Siddhirganj, was brought under control after nearly four hours on Wednesday morning.
According to Saleh Uddin, Deputy Director of the Dhaka Division of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, the blaze was contained at around 8AM through the efforts of nine fire service units.
The fire originated in the factory's storage room during the early hours. It spread rapidly, triggering panic across the EPZ.
However, no casualties were reported.
Saleh Uddin said the Fire Service received the emergency call at 4:10AM. Although the EPZ's own firefighting team initially responded, the intensity of the blaze prompted additional support from Narayanganj, Kanchpur, and other nearby stations.
A total of 11 fire service units were dispatched to the scene, with nine units actively involved in bringing the fire under control.
He added that because the warehouse contained large quantities of fabric, small pockets of fire were still smoldering in some areas. However, the situation no longer poses any significant risk.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage have not yet been determined, authorities said.
