The protesting students have given the Education Minister an ultimatum to resign by 6pm on Tuesday (July 14) and apologize to the nation for his 'inconsistent' statements.
City College examinee Md. Miraj Hossain made the announcement on behalf of the protesting students in the capital's Science Lab area at around 4:45 pm.
He said that the Education Minister must resign by 6 pm and apologize to the nation for his statement. At the same time, he demanded that the exam be retaken, taking into account the issues of those who took the exam yesterday (July 13) under uncomfortable circumstances and those who could not take the exam.
In addition, the protesting students have demanded that the scheduled exams for the next day be canceled, a new exam schedule be published, and the quality of the question papers be made student-friendly.
Earlier, around 3:45 pm, when students took up a position in the Science Lab area, traffic on the road was stopped. This caused severe traffic jams in the surrounding areas. During the sit-in program, the students raised various slogans demanding the resignation of the Education Minister.
The protesting students complain that despite continuing their program since morning, no one from the government has yet sat down to discuss it with them.
