BMD forecasts continued rainfall until July 18

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers across the country over the next five days as the monsoon remains active over Bangladesh.

According to the five-day forecast issued on July 14, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are likely at most places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, and at many places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions.

The Met Office said moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur at places over Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions on July 14.

On July 15, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in most parts of the country, with moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall expected at places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

A similar weather pattern is expected on July 16 and July 17, with moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall likely at places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

On July 18, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at many places over the country, while moderately heavy rainfall may occur at places over Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

The BMD also said day temperatures may fall slightly during the period.

According to the department's rainfall data for the 24 hours ending at 6:00am on July 14, Feni recorded the highest rainfall at 188 mm, followed by Cumilla with 168 mm, Maijdee Court with 172 mm, and Sitakunda with 109 mm. Dhaka recorded 47 mm of rainfall during the same period.
