Protesting students on Tuesday announced a three-point demand, including the suspension of HSC and equivalent examinations until the country's flood and adverse weather situation improves.
Speaking at a demonstration at Science Lab in the capital, they also demanded the resignation of Education and Primary and Mass Education Adviser Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon within 24 hours.
The protesters said the demands were made on behalf of students across the country, arguing that floods, waterlogging and disrupted communication had prevented many examinees from taking the examinations on equal terms.
They called for the suspension of HSC and equivalent examinations until the disaster situation ends and demanded a fresh examination for candidates who were unable to sit the July 13 exam due to adverse weather.
The students alleged that the government's decision to continue the examinations despite the ongoing disaster had caused hardship for thousands of candidates, particularly those in flood-hit areas.
Addressing the programme, Junaid Khan, a student of Mohammadpur Government College, said the movement was not against the examinations but in favour of ensuring equal opportunities for all candidates.
"We do not want any student to fall behind simply because floods, waterlogging or disrupted communication prevented them from reaching the examination centre," he said, adding that the examinations should be held after the disaster situation improves.
