Tamim Iqbal named ICC franchise leagues committee chairman

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal has been appointed chairman of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) newly formed Franchise Leagues Committee, following approval at the ICC Annual Conference in Edinburgh.
The new committee will oversee policy, coordination and the future development of franchise cricket leagues around the world. Alongside Tamim, the committee includes Cricket Namibia's Dr. Rudie van Vuuren, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia, England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Chief Executive Richard Gould, and Cricket Australia Chief Executive Todd Greenberg.
The ICC also constituted a new Governance Review Committee, chaired by Devajit Saikia. The committee's other members are Cricket South Africa's Dr. Mohammed Moosajee and ICC Independent Director Dr. Ros Rivaz.
Among other key decisions taken at the meeting, Mauritius was admitted as the ICC's 111th member. The ICC Board also approved a loan of US$12.82 million to Cricket West Indies to support cricket development across the Caribbean.
The Board endorsed the conditions for the reinstatement of Cricket Canada, whose suspension will remain in place until those requirements are met. It also reviewed progress on constitutional reforms in Sri Lanka Cricket, urging the board to hold elections as soon as possible. Until then, Sri Lanka Cricket will not be represented at ICC Board meetings.
The ICC formally recognised the newly elected BCB president as Bangladesh's Full Member Director on the ICC Board.
Meanwhile, the ICC Annual General Meeting also approved placing France Cricket "on notice" over alleged breaches of membership obligations.
