MTB launches first standalone IFRS S1 and S2 disclosure report

Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) launched its first standalone IFRS S1 and S2 Disclosure, "Climate Catalyst for Resilience 2025," recently, at the Samson H Chowdhury Auditorium, MTB Tower. The launch was followed by a day-long training on Sustainable Finance and Bangladesh Bank's Refinance Schemes, conducted by specialists from Bangladesh Bank's Sustainable Finance Department. 

The event was attended by Syed Mahbubur Rahman, MD and CEO; Md. Shamsul Islam, DMD and Head of Treasury; Usman Rashed Muyeen, DMD and GCRO; MdShafquat Hossain, DMD and Head of Retail Banking Division; and AKM Tareq, DMD and Head of Branch Banking Division, Tahmina Z Khan, Head of Sustainability, along with senior Bangladesh Bank officials as guests of honor, says a press release.

Opening the event, Usman Rashed Muyeen said MTB's first standalone IFRS S1 and S2 Disclosure marked an important milestone in its sustainability journey, while transparent climate disclosures and Bangladesh Bank's sustainable finance initiatives would help strengthen resilience and support sustainable economic development.

Syed Mahbubur Rahman said climate risk management had become a strategic priority for the banking industry and reaffirmed MTB's commitment to responsible banking and a greener, more resilient economy. He later formally launched “Climate Catalyst for Resilience 2025” with MTB's DMDs and Bangladesh Bank officials. The following training covered sustainable finance, climate risk management, regulatory expectations and refinance schemes.
