Jamaat is not a party of angels, says Shafiqur Rahman

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Friday said Jamaat is not a party of angels, adding that its members are human and can make mistakes.
He made the remarks while addressing the Dhaka district Rukon conference of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh, in Kakrail.
"We are human, and we also make mistakes. We have made one thing clear�"injustice and Jamaat-e-Islami do not go together," he said.
He said this did not mean that Jamaat members do not commit wrongdoing, adding that they can also make mistakes, commit injustice, faults and crimes.
Dr Shafiqur called on those who love the country and the nation to inform the party of any wrongdoing or crime committed by its members.
"We promise we will correct it, God willing," he said.
Addressing party leaders and activists, he said those wearing white clothes should be more careful, adding that there is no compromise on morality in Jamaat-e-Islami.
He said the party would try to correct those whose violations remain within a tolerable level and may assign them responsibilities again after correction.
However, he said if the level of wrongdoing is serious, the party would have no option but to take a difficult decision.
He urged everyone in the party, including himself, to remain aware and careful.
