Dr Khalil in Maldives to deepen bilateral ties

Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman arrived in the Maldives on Saturday on a three-day official visit aimed at further strengthening the longstanding bilateral relationship and exploring new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.

Dr Khalilur, who is visiting the island nation from July 25 to 27 as a special guest of the Maldivian government, will also attend celebrations marking the country's 61st Independence Day.

"The visit sets the stage for enhanced cooperation in the years ahead," Maldivian Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam said.

Upon his arrival, the Bangladesh foreign minister was received by Maldivian Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam and senior officials of the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, Dr Khalilur is scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu and hold bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Adam.
