Jubo Dal activist killed in Mirpur shooting, 2 injured

 
A Jatiotabadi Jubo Dal activist was killed and two businessmen were injured after unidentified assailants opened fire indiscriminately in the capital's Mirpur-13 area late on Friday night.

The incident occurred around 11:00pm in front of the Opex Garments factory in Block E.

The deceased was identified as Yusuf Ali, 45, a Jubo Dal activist. The injured are Nalam Sardar, 45, a raw materials trader, and Monir Hossain, 32, a roadside clothing vendor.

Kafrul Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said Nalam sustained a bullet wound to the back of his head, while Monir was shot in the leg. All three were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared Yusuf dead.

Eyewitness and Yusuf's political associate Mamun said they were having tea when four to five suspicious young men began loitering nearby. Yusuf questioned them about their identity, triggering an altercation.
