The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds in 12 regions of the country, prompting authorities to hoist warning signal No. 1 at river ports in the affected areas.
According to an inland river port warning issued on Sunday, thunderstorms or rain, along with winds of 45-60 km/h, may affect Dhaka, Tangail, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet until 1:00 pm. The winds are expected to blow from the south or southeast.
The BMD has advised river ports in these regions to display warning signal No. 1.
In its regular weather bulletin, the department also forecast rain or thundershowers across all eight divisions during the day. Light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds is likely in many areas, while some places may experience moderately heavy to heavy rainfall.
Despite the rain, daytime temperatures are expected to rise slightly across the country, the BMD said.
