Fire Service personnel responded to reports of a fire near the Cargo Village of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday night, but found no active blaze upon arrival.
According to the Fire Service and Civil Defence control room, a report of a fire was received at around 9:20 pm, prompting the deployment of two firefighting units to the scene.
Duty Officer Rashed Bin Khalid said the responding teams found no fire at the Cargo Village. Instead, they discovered smoke rising from a pile of waste beside the facility.
"The report initially indicated a fire at the Cargo Village. However, after arriving at the scene, our teams found no fire there. They observed smoke coming from a waste dump adjacent to the Cargo Village, where two units are currently working," he said.
He added that the cause of the smoke could not be immediately determined. Further details are expected after the operation is completed and the Fire Service submits its report.
