Tehran claims US failed in Strait of Hormuz mission, warns against further strikes

Tehran has warned that scope of war will be prolonged if the US attacks Iran again. At the same time, IRGC claimed US has failed to achieve its objective in the Strait of Hormuz.

Military spokesman General Abdul Fazal Shekarchi made the statement by state media on Sunday. He added that war would widen if US launch more attacks on Iran. US has failed in its mission to achieve its goals in the Strait of Hormuz and weaken Iran.

Describing the current situation as chaotic and undesirable for the United States, Shekarchi said the Trump administration is searching for new strategies in the conflict. The Iranian military spokesman also quipped that even if the United States wanted to, it would not be able to exit the war without Israel's approval.

Meanwhile, a senior official in Iran's ruling Islamist government stated that as long as the United States halts its military operations in Iran, Iran will refrain from retaliating against US bases in the Middle East.

On the other hand, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz commented that the US President has put off attacking Iran to give diplomacy a chance.

US Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz said, "We are ready with full capacity. More military assets are being deployed to the Middle East for this purpose. However, he is giving some time and opportunity for talks. Especially in the last few days, several of our mediators, including Oman, have been working actively from the highest level to the technical level."

Iran and the United States agreed to a ceasefire last June. But since then, the United States has been attacking Iran daily for about two weeks, prompting Iranian retaliation and effectively breaking down the truce. However, the United States has stopped attacking Iran for the past two days. The New York Times claimed that the attacks were halted due to fears that if the conflict escalates, the limited stock of US air defense missiles and other ammunition could quickly run out.

Nevertheless, the US President has claimed that reports alleging the US stopped attacks due to fears of running out of interceptor missiles are baseless. He affirmed that the ammunition stockpiled by the US is far more than it needs.
