Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to travel to New York on September 21 to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), where he will deliver Bangladesh’s national statement on September 24.

According to diplomatic sources, the visit will mark Rahman’s first official trip to New York since taking office and his debut address at the UN General Assembly as Prime Minister.

This year’s General Assembly session will be chaired by Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, who has been elected President of the 81st UN General Assembly.

During his visit, the Prime Minister is also expected to attend a reception hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump. In addition, he is likely to participate in a community event with Bangladeshi expatriates and hold a series of bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the UN gathering.
