The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced nationwide protest programmes on Wednesday, alleging that its leaders and activists were attacked during a party march in Habiganj.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the party said demonstrations and protest rallies will be held across the country in response to what it described as an attack by BNP activists on the convoy of NCP Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam and Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari.
The NCP instructed its metropolitan, district, upazila and thana units to organise protest programmes in their respective areas and ensure the participation of party leaders and activists.
The announcement follows an incident in Habiganj on Tuesday evening, where the NCP alleged that local Chhatra Dal activists attacked the vehicles carrying Sarjis Alam and Nasiruddin Patwari after a party march. Several NCP leaders, activists and journalists were reportedly injured in the incident before police intervened and brought the situation under control.
