BD mission in KL distributes food to Aerofoam workers

The Bangladesh High Commission in Malaysia has stepped up support for Bangladeshi workers of Aerofoam Manufacturing (1969) Sdn. Bhd., delivering emergency food supplies and assuring them that efforts are underway to facilitate their lawful transfer to new employers.

At approximately 6pm (local time) on Wednesday, two officials from the Bangladesh High Commission visited the workers' accommodation to assess their condition and provide humanitarian assistance, according to a press release.

During the visit, the officials distributed essential food items among the workers, including 70 kilograms of potatoes, 70 kilograms of onions, 40 sacks of rice, 15 kilograms of lentils (dal), 75 kilograms of flour, 30 kilograms of cooking oil, 450 eggs, 10 kilograms of garlic, and 1 kilogram of ginger.

The officials also held detailed discussions with the workers regarding their current living conditions and the ongoing process of transferring them to new employers following difficulties faced at Aerofoam Manufacturing.

According to the workers, the High Commission representatives listened to their concerns and assured them that every possible effort is being made to complete the transfer process in compliance with Malaysian labour laws and immigration regulations.

The officials emphasized that the Bangladesh High Commission is actively coordinating with the relevant Malaysian authorities and stakeholders to ensure that the workers are transferred legally to suitable companies, safeguarding their employment rights and legal status in the country.

They explained that the High Commission's involvement is essential for completing the transfer through the proper government procedures, ensuring that workers are not exposed to legal complications or exploitation during the process.

The visit comes amid continued efforts by the Bangladesh mission in Kuala Lumpur to support Bangladeshi migrant workers facing employment-related challenges in Malaysia. Officials reiterated that the mission remains committed to protecting the welfare of Bangladeshi nationals and facilitating lawful employment solutions whenever possible.

Workers expressed appreciation for the emergency assistance and the High Commission's continued engagement, saying the food supplies would provide much-needed relief while they await completion of the transfer process.

The Bangladesh High Commission has assured the workers that it will continue monitoring the situation closely and maintain regular communication with the relevant authorities until the transfer process is successfully completed.
