Three more witnesses testified on Sunday in a corruption case against PK Halder, S Alam Group Chairman Mohammad Saiful Alam and 11 others over alleged loan fraud and embezzlement.

The witnesses testified before Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-5. They are Aviva Finance Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Modasser Hasan, RJSC Assistant Registrar Antu Kumar Pal and Midhat Aziz, AVP and Head of CRM at Deposit Operations.

Court officials stated, Midhat Aziz’s cross-examination was completed, while the other two witnesses will be cross-examined on September 7.

With this, 14 of the 15 prosecution witnesses have testified in the case.

The court framed charges against the 13 accused on January 19 and ordered the trial to begin.

According to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the accused allegedly colluded to approve and disburse a Tk 32.5 crore term loan in the name of a fictitious firm, Mostofa & Co, in 2013. The money was subsequently transferred to S Alam Super Edible Oil Ltd.

The ACC filed the case on July 2 last year and submitted a charge sheet against the 13 accused on October 16.
