
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 484 people in separate raids across the capital over the past 24 hours.
Fifty-eight cases were filed in connection with the operations, according to a DMP Media and Public Relations Department press release issued on Tuesday.
Of those arrested, 43 were from Ramna Division, 33 from Lalbagh, 71 from Wari, 56 from Motijheel, 50 from Tejgaon, 124 from Mirpur, 55 from Gulshan, 48 from Uttara, three by the Detective Branch and one by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit.
Police seized a motorcycle, five mobile phones, two gas lighters, six pieces of foil paper, Tk 2,500 in cash, five cocktail-like objects, 6.2kg of cannabis, 6,956 yaba tablets and 30 bottles of Eskaf syrup (phensedyl) during the raids.
Niaz Mehedi, additional deputy commissioner of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Department, said the arrests were made during regular operations in different police station areas of the capital.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway, he added.
