Police recovered the hanging body of a 20-year-old worker from a house in Mugda, Dhaka, on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Sabuj Babu, a resident of Madarganj upazila in Jamalpur. He lived with his family in a rented house in the area.
Mugda police recovered the body from a ground-floor room of Shafik Sheikh’s house near Pagla Chan Hotel around 9:30am. The body was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a bedsheet.
Later, the body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Mugda Police Station Sub-Inspector Mohammad Abu Tarek Dipu confirmed the matter.
Police said preliminary questioning of relatives and locals suggested that Sabuj had been addicted to drugs for a long time. He had reportedly argued with his father a few days earlier over money for drugs, leading to ongoing family tensions.
The exact cause of death will be determined after the autopsy report, police said.
