A colorful art competition for children and teenagers was held in Khulna on Sunday to mark the 82nd birthday of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The competition was organized at the premises of the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy at 3pm, bringing together students from various schools across the city. The young participants showcased their creativity, patriotism and imagination through paintings, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the event.
Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju attended the event as the chief guest. Bangladesh Kindergarten Association adviser Rehana Akter, Khulna Press Club General Secretary Tariqul Islam, Zia Shishu-Kishore Sangathan Central Council General Secretary Mir Mominur Rahman Sujon, Senior Vice-President Mirza Masudur Rahman and Vice-President Parvin Sultana Nitu were present as special guests.
The event was chaired by Niaz Ahmed Tuhin, president of Zia Shishu-Kishore Sangathan Khulna Metropolitan unit.
In his speech, Manju described Khaleda Zia as an important leader of Bangladesh’s democratic movement. He said her long political career and struggles for people’s rights, democracy and voting rights could inspire the younger generation with values of patriotism, courage and democracy.
He also emphasized the importance of nurturing children’s talents and creativity through cultural and artistic activities. Such initiatives, he said, can help develop children’s intellectual abilities while fostering love for the country, society and people.
Other speakers said the paintings created by the children reflected their dreams, imagination and vision of Bangladesh’s future. They stressed the need to regularly organize similar programs to encourage children’s creative development alongside their social and cultural awareness.
Students from different schools participated enthusiastically in the competition. The organizers later encouraged the participants and took initiatives to award prizes to the outstanding contestants.
Leaders and activists of the Zia Shishu-Kishore Sangathan’s Khulna metropolitan and district units, organizers, parents and a large number of children and teenagers attended the event. Their enthusiastic participation turned the program into a lively and festive gathering.
