Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton stressed the need for coordinated efforts between the private sector and the city corporation to transform Dhaka into a modern, clean, green, and livable city.

The statement came after a courtesy meeting between the DNCC Administrator and Anvir Bashundhara Group (ABG) Chairman Sayem Sobhan Anvir at the DNCC office in Gulshan on Monday (August 17), where both sides expressed optimism about working together on mutual interests, including urban development and public service.
Speaking after the meeting, DNCC Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton stated, "Bashundhara is a model residential area. ABG is one of the country's most reputed business groups and an important stakeholder for DNCC. The ABG Chairman visited the DNCC office upon our invitation."

"Coordination among all stakeholders is necessary for urban development. Therefore, we discussed various public interest issues and mutual matters with the ABG Chairman," he added, noting that ABG assured full support to DNCC for city development, while the city corporation would extend necessary assistance in public interest.

Highlighting measures to control Dengue, the Administrator stated that DNCC is maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against Aedes mosquito larvae.

He informed that a dedicated task force is strictly monitoring all 10 DNCC zones, with regular mobile courts conducting drives at government offices, institutions, and residences. Fines and legal actions are being imposed wherever larvae are detected.

Urging public awareness, Milton noted that city workers cannot enter private homes to eliminate breeding grounds, making it essential for citizens to keep their surroundings clean. He added that mosquito control drives are ongoing according to pre-planned schedules, keeping the mosquito situation under relative control, with special drives planned for identified hotspots after the monsoon.
