The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued cautionary signals for four seaports and seven river ports as a seasonal low-pressure system over Jharkhand and adjoining areas moves west-northwest and gradually weakens.

According to a forecast issued by meteorologist Md Tariful Newaz Kabir on Tuesday, the system may cause gusty winds over the sea, the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports have been advised to keep local cautionary signal No. 3 hoisted.

Fishing boats and trawlers in the northern Bay of Bengal have also been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.

Meanwhile, temporary rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty or squally winds of 45"60 kmph from the south or southeast may affect Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar by 6pm on Tuesday.

River ports in these areas have been advised to display local cautionary signal No. 1.
