
The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has reshuffled its tax administration, transferring or reassigning 22 tax commissioners just a day after its new Chairman Ahsan Habib took charge.
In a significant move towards women’s empowerment, the board also appointed Selina Sultana as the first woman director general of its Central Intelligence Cell (CIC). She was previously commissioner of Dhaka Tax Zone-4.
The changes were made through separate orders and gazettes issued on Thursday.
The outgoing CIC Director General Mohammad Abdur Rakib has been transferred to Dhaka Tax Zone-8 as commissioner.
Syed Mahidul Islam, secretary general of the BCS Taxation Association, has been appointed director general of the Income Tax Intelligence and Investigation Unit. He was previously director general of the Tax Inspection Directorate.
