Actress, model and vlogger Rukaiya Jahan Chamok has drawn attention after portraying former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

In a new episode of her vlog series, the actress focused on the life of the late former head of government and appeared before the camera dressed as Khaleda Zia. Her portrayal has drawn widespread praise from netizens.

Recently, the actress released the 19th episode of the second season of her vlog series, Discovering Bangladesh with Chamok, on her Facebook page. Titled Begum Khaleda Zia, the video’s caption described it as the story of Bangladesh’s first female prime minister, portraying her as the “Mother of Democracy” and an uncompromising leader in the country’s political history.

Filmed at Zia Udyan in Dhaka and in a studio, the video shows Chamok wearing a light-coloured printed sari, a pearl necklace and sunglasses-an appearance that closely resembles Khaleda Zia’s familiar look.

After the video was published, social media was flooded with comments from netizens. Many praised Chamok for her meticulous styling and natural presentation. One netizen wrote, “Chamok is truly a talented artist. She looks exactly like Khaleda Zia.” Some others said it was the first time someone had portrayed her so beautifully. Another commenter said that for a moment, while watching the video, it felt as though Khaleda Zia herself had appeared.

Earlier this year, Chamok also made headlines after purchasing a BNP nomination form to contest for a reserved women’s parliamentary seat from a constituency in Kushtia. At the time, she announced that she had formally joined the party.

Rukaiya Jahan Chamok entered the showbiz industry in 2017 after becoming the runner-up in the Miss World Bangladesh competition. After a three-year break, she began acting on television in 2020. She quickly gained popularity through her performances in popular dramas and web series such as Haider, House No. 96, Mohanagar, Sada Private, Osomapto and Viral Husband. She is currently also active in vlogging.
