A Dhaka court on Thursday placed two men on a four-day remand over the killing and dismemberment of 19-year-old Suraiya Akter alias Falani in the capital’s Sabujbagh.
The accused are Manzurul Islam Rabbi, husband of Falani’s friend Nusrat Jahan Sahida and his associate Shawon. Police arrested them in Sabujbagh on Wednesday night.
Police alleged that Falani was involved in an affair with Rabbi, which Sahida discovered. According to the investigation, Sahida allegedly killed Falani after finding her with Rabbi, while Shawon allegedly helped dispose of the body by severing the head.
Police recovered Falani’s severed head and two hands from beneath a bridge near Madartek on (August 6). Her parents later identified the remains.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan ordered the remand after police sought 10 days for interrogation.
