A former teacher died after falling through an open elevator shaft at a building in the Tali Office-Sultanganj area of Hazaribagh in the capital.
The deceased was identified as Subhash Chandra Pal, 73.
The tragic accident occurred at around 7:00 AM today (Sunday, August 29), at his residence at 255/2 Sultanganj near Tali Office intersection.
He was rescued in critical condition and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where an on-duty doctor pronounced him dead at around 8am.
According to the victim’s family members and local residents, Subhash lived with his family in their own flat on the seventh floor of the building. He would usually go out for a walk every morning.
This morning, construction workers at the building first spotted him lying at the bottom of the elevator shaft and informed his family. With the help of the workers, relatives rescued him and rushed him to DMCH. However, after examination, doctors said he had already died.
