The High Court has issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain why Tk 1 crore should not be paid as compensation over the death of a seven-month-old child from measles allegedly caused by negligence in vaccination during former chief adviser of the interim government Dr Muhammad Yunus.

Former chief adviser of the interim government Professor Muhammad Yunus, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Health Services Division, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services and deputy commissioner of Dhaka have been asked to reply to the rule within four weeks.

The bench of Justice Razik-Al-Jalil and Justice Debasish Roy Chowdhury on Tuesday issued the rule after hearing a writ petition filed by Md Shakil, father of the even-month-old baby died due to shortage of measles vaccine.
