Malaysia limits multiple entry visas for B'desh, 30 nations

Malaysia restricted multiple-entry visa (MEV) facilities for tourists from 31 countries across South Asia and Africa, including Bangladesh.

Under the new policy, Bangladeshi tourists will generally receive single-entry visas instead of one-year multiple-entry social visit visas. The Malaysian Immigration Department published the list of affected nations under the revised framework.

According to a directive from the Malaysian Immigration Department, multiple-entry visas will no longer be granted indiscriminately to citizens of all countries effective September 1, 2026.

However, multiple-entry visas will remain available for specific approved travel categories, including business, medical treatment, fly-and-cruise packages, and wedding tourism.

The official notification published on the Malaysian Immigration Department's website clarified that the restriction applies strictly to visit visas and social travel.

The policy change does not affect employment visas or work permits for Bangladeshi workers currently employed in Malaysia.
