Two coaches of the Jamalpur Express became detached from the train while it was moving in Mymensingh on Friday, disrupting train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route for nearly 45 minutes.

The incident occurred around 2:45pm when the intercity Jamalpur Express, which had departed Dhaka for Bhuapur, reached the Sutiakhali area of Mymensingh city. The two coaches attached immediately behind the locomotive became separated from the train.

Mohammad Akhtar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Mymensingh Railway Police Station, confirmed the incident.

He said the driver noticed the coaches had become detached and reversed the train to reconnect them.

Railway staff later reattached the two coaches at around 3:30pm, after which the train resumed its journey toward Mymensingh.

Train services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route remained suspended for nearly 45 minutes following the incident and resumed normally around 3:30pm.

The overall law and order situation and train movement in the area are currently normal.
