US Envoys hold 3hr talks with Putin

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner held a three-hour meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow as part of Washington's renewed diplomatic effort to end the war in Ukraine.
The Kremlin confirmed the discussions, releasing video footage in which Putin acknowledged the complex nature of current geopolitical circumstances to Witkoff.
During the meeting, Witkoff expressed gratitude to Putin for ordering a three-day suspension of airstrikes against the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, during the diplomatic mission.
The two US envoys are scheduled to travel to Kyiv on Sunday (September 6) to hold direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, marking their first visit to the Ukrainian capital.
US President Donald Trump confirmed on Friday that Witkoff and Kushner were dispatched with specific proposals to negotiate a permanent resolution to the conflict.
Previous American diplomatic interventions have failed to yield a lasting ceasefire.
However, Putin expressed confidence in the latest US initiative, stating that high-level communications remain valuable while extending thanks to President Trump for his peace mediation efforts.
While detailed terms of the Kremlin discussions were not fully disclosed, foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov described the meeting as constructive, frank, and substantive.
Ushakov added that conversations extended beyond hostilities to cover bilateral economic matters and future US-Russia relations.
