3,079 students secured GPA-5 challenging SSC exam papers

A total of 4,585 students, who initially failed in the SSC and equivalent examinations, have now passed after re-scrutiny, while 3,079 students have newly achieved GPA 5.

The re-scrutiny and re-evaluation results have been released on the websites of all 11 education boards at 10 AM on Thursday. Applicants have also been notified via SMS and can access their re-scrutiny results on the official re-scrutiny website.

A total of 402,051 students had applied for re-scrutiny this year. With students being able to apply for multiple subjects, applications were made for 1,056,455 written and 231,471 practical answer scripts, making a total of 1,287,926.

This year, the system of re-scrutiny was changed. Answer scripts were re-evaluated rather than just error checking in addition of marks, the chairman of Dhaka Education Board has said.

The highest number of applications were made to the Dhaka Education Board where 94,236 students have applied for re-scrutiny. Over 40,000 students have made applications for re-scrutiny under Madrasa Education Board and over 20,000 under the Technical Education Board.

The original SSC and equivalent results had been declared on August 10 and applications for re-scrutiny closed on August 17. Re-scrutiny results have thus been declared 31 days after the original result declaration.

The pass percentage in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations was 62.25%, the lowest in 19 years.
