A Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts has been established in the 13th National Parliament, with MP from Habiganj-1 Reza Kibria of the ruling party as its chairman.
This development has raised the total number of parliamentary committees established till now in the 13th National Parliament to 46.
The proposal for establishing the committee and revamping two existing committees pertaining to the Ministries of Finance and Religion was put forward by Chief Whip Md Nurul Islam Moni on Wednesday (September 9).
The proposals were passed through voice vote in Parliament.
There are 50 committees in the National Parliament consisting of 39 standing committees on ministries and 11 subject committees. Five committees have been established on Tuesday.
