Low pressure forms over Bay, rain forecast across country

A low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, with the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) forecasting rain and thunderstorms across the country over the next 24 hours.

The forecast was issued on Thursday (September 10) by meteorologist Md Shaheenul Islam.

According to the forecast, until 9am Friday, many parts of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds.

Some parts of the country may also experience moderately heavy rainfall. Day and night temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged nationwide.

From 9am Friday to 9am Saturday, many areas of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and some areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions may see light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds. Moderately heavy rain is also possible in places, while temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged.

From 9am Saturday to 9am Sunday, scattered rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are forecast in parts of Khulna, Barishal, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, with isolated showers possible in Rangpur, Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions. Some areas may receive moderately heavy rainfall, while temperatures could rise slightly across the country.

From 9am Sunday to 9am Monday, many areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds. Similar weather is expected in some areas of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions, with moderately heavy rain possible in places. Temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged.

From 9am Monday to 9am Tuesday, rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds may occur in some areas of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, while isolated showers are possible in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions.

Moderately heavy rainfall may occur in some parts of the country, while day and night temperatures are likely to rise slightly nationwide.
