‘Shoot me dead instead of filing cases repeatedly’: Misty Subhas

A Dhaka court on Sunday showed Mst Simu Akter Brishti alias Misty Subhas arrested in an attempted murder case filed with Ashulia Police Station and sent her to jail.

Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Md Tajul Islam Sohag passed the order after a hearing.


Subhas was brought to court from jail. She reportedly fell ill and collapsed while being taken from the lock-up to the courtroom, but was later brought back after recovering.

Defence lawyer Golam Rabbani sought an order against showing her arrested in the case. The court, however, granted the police plea and sent her to jail.

Subhas was arrested on March 26 while visiting the National Martyrs’ Memorial to lay flowers. She was later shown arrested in four cases and had secured bail in those cases.

The investigating officer, Ashulia Police Station SI Atowar Rahman, sought to show her arrested in the new case on September 9. The court fixed Sunday for the hearing.

According to the case statement, Md Abir, a participant in the anti-discrimination student movement, was seriously injured in a gun attack allegedly carried out by armed Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League activists at Baipaile in Ashulia on August 5, 2024. An attempted murder case was filed on October 31 that year.
