Former supernumerary Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police and former Superintendent of Police Md Apel Mahmud has been temporarily suspended from service over allegations of misconduct.
The Home Ministry’s Public Security Division issued a notification on Wednesday through its Discipline-1 branch announcing the decision.
According to the notification, a departmental case has been initiated against Apel Mahmud, who previously served as Superintendent of Police of the Tourist Police’s Cox’s Bazar Region, under Rule 3(b) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018, on allegations of “misconduct.”
The order said his temporary suspension was deemed appropriate under Rule 12(1) of the same rules pending proceedings against him.
During his suspension, Apel Mahmud will remain attached to the office of the DIG of Rajshahi Range and will be entitled to subsistence allowance in accordance with the rules.
