Patwary demands arrest of Asif Nazrul

Chief Coordinator of the National Citizen Party (NCP) Nasiruddin Patwary has demanded the arrest of former interim government legal adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul, accusing him of political deception and failing to uphold commitments made during the government formation process.
In a recent public address, Patwary sharply criticized the former adviser's role in the post-uprising transition while stating that he retained professional respect for him as a university teacher.
Patwary claimed that following the formation of the interim administration, Asif Nazrul had personally assured him that steps would be taken to remove the sitting President, a commitment that was subsequently unfulfilled.
He added that the former adviser engaged in internal political maneuvering during key negotiations surrounding the government formation.
The NCP leader further alleged that during discussions regarding the Proclamation of Independence and the July Charter involving BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed, Asif Nazrul attempted to introduce unauthorized modifications to agreed documents.
Detailing events during the transitional period after the student-led mass uprising, Patwary stated that Asif Nazrul had presented himself as a representative of the student movement during visits to the Cantonment, though he was subsequently excluded from direct entry during initial proceedings at Bangabhaban.
Patwary also criticized the former adviser's personal activities while holding public office, questioning his focus on agricultural and livestock endeavors during his tenure in the interim government.
