Padakhep raises awareness on gender-based violence

Padakhep organised an awareness event titled ‘Know, Speak Up, Stop Violence’ to promote prevention of gender-based violence and foster a safe, supportive and dignified workplace and society.

The event was held on Tuesday at Padakhep’s head office, bringing together officials and employees from different levels of the organisation through both in-person and online participation, said a press release.

The discussions focused on gender-based violence, cyberbullying, cyber harassment and safe parenting. Participants were briefed on different forms of violence and their early warning signs, ways to challenge common misconceptions, and how to identify and address potential risks in workplaces and online spaces.

The event also highlighted the legal rights, protection and support available to survivors, while stressing the importance of responsible parenting in creating safer and more respectful environments for children, families and communities.

A.B.M Siddique, Founder and President of Padakhep, inaugurated the event and underscored the shared responsibility of individuals and institutions in preventing violence. 

He said speaking up through appropriate channels when necessary and standing beside survivors can play an important role in creating a safer environment.

Shazib Hasnat, Joint Director, Microfinance Operation and Head of Safeguarding at Padakhep, highlighted key aspects of safeguarding and gender-based violence.
