Dr Zubaida Rahman will also get family card: Shahe Alam

State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam has said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s wife Dr Zubaida Rahman will also receive a family card under the government’s planned social welfare programme.

Speaking at a cheque distribution programme for flood-affected people in Chattogram's Banshkhali on Thursday, Shahe Alam said the Family Card was one of the government’s flagship initiatives.

“Tarique Rahman’s government is a government of the people. That is why he has introduced some signature projects for you, including the Family Card.''

According to the state minister, around four crore families will eventually come under the Family Card programme.

“No one needs to pay added that even a bribe to get the card. Everyone will receive it gradually.''

Shahe Alam added that even the prime minister’s wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, would receive a Family Card, describing the initiative as a decision of the BNP government.
