Dengue claims live of doctor just before joining dengue unit

A doctor has died of dengue while undergoing treatment in Dhaka, just a day before she was scheduled to take up duties at a dengue unit.
Dr Anchal Roy died on Sunday while receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of Square Hospital in the capital.

She was a 42nd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) officer and an assistant registrar in the Medicine Department of Mugda Medical College Hospital.
According to colleagues, Dr Anchal continued treating patients until the day before she fell ill. She was scheduled to join the hospital’s dengue unit the following day.
However, she succumbed to the disease before she could take up the assignment.
Her death has cast a pall of grief over her 42nd BCS colleagues and the wider medical community.
