CID report in Hadi murder case due Nov 3

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will submit its further investigation report in the murder case filed over the killing of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi on November 3.

The Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court had fixed Sunday for submission of the report. However, as the CID failed to submit it, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Joshita Islam set the new date.

Hadi was shot by unidentified assailants on Box Culvert Road in Paltan after Friday prayers on December 12 last year. He was taken to Singapore for advanced treatment but died there on December 18.

Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Mancha, filed the case with Paltan Police Station on December 14. Later, Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code was added to the case.

On January 6, DB Inspector Faisal Ahmed submitted a charge sheet against 17 people. Dissatisfied with the charge sheet, the complainant filed a no-confidence petition on January 15.

The court accepted the petition and ordered the CID to conduct further investigation. Of the 17 accused, 11 are in jail and six remain absconding.
